Daydreaming of a Summersday....
Daydreaming of a Summersday....
April showers brings May flowers right? Since everyone is #socialdistancing and #stayinghome we could all use a little sunshine to brighten our days during quarantine thats for sure! So why not at least pretend its a summers day with Summersday 92% Chenin Blanc and 8% Viognier.
Never heard of that blend? Don't worry your not alone. Before Summersday I had never heard of or tried such a blend. To my surprise, I really enjoyed this blend. I imagine having friends over in the summer to sit on the porch, listening to music, and enjoying a nice cold glass of wine. Before the pandemic started, I think we all took that activity for granted. So maybe there are some silver linings to this crazy mess. Micheal Broadent said it best, "Drinking good wine with good food, in good company is one of life's most civilized pleasures."
Before we get into the pairing part lets learn something new first! If you are like me, and you have never heard of this type of blend sit back and let me explain. This is a rare white wine blend! A Chenin blanc is a white wine grape variety from the Loire Valley of France. This grape is high in acidity so that means it can be used to make everything from sparkling wines to well balanced desert wines. The Viognier grape is also a French grape that is used to blend the wine.
I don't know about you, but our Friday's have such a lonely feeling to them right now. We miss seeing all our loyal customers each week for our annual Friday night wine tastings!! We decided this Friday night we are going to pick up a bottle of Summersday, pair it with some smoked salmon burgers, and have a picnic in our living room. (We might even get crazy and turn up the music an extra notch, and open some windows...lol)
This white wine blend Summersday, is a 2016 California wine that will take you away to that perfect summers day. Summersday is the only wine that wine producer makes so he specializes in this rare blend. It is semi-dry, crisp, and refreshing! We found this amazing smoked salmon burgers with grainy mustard recipe by Martha Stewart! It takes around 30 minutes to prep and cook, and it will feed 4! Check it out and pick up a bottle of Summersday!
